Operationalizing SNF MDS Changes

Welcome to the webinar: Operationalizing SNF MDS Changes, presented on Sept 13th; 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (eastern time).

This live webinar will be provided in partnership with LeadingAge NJ & DE. Skilled nursing facilities are about to experience – as of Oct. 1 -- the most substantive changes to the Minimum Data Set (MDS) since its original inception in 1988. MDS is the underpinning of care planning, Medicare payment and quality measurement. So, it’s critical that SNFs are well-prepared for the impact of these changes.

This program will focus on operational strategies beginning with the admission process and covering everything through the time of discharge. How the MDS changes are going to affect the survey process will be emphasized.

Objectives for this presentation include:

  • Summarize the Care Area Assessments (CAA’s) and Care Area Triggers (CAT’s) process as it relates to the removal of Section G, the new MDS changes, and the care planning process.
  • Describe an education plan that engages the Interdisciplinary team, social workers, dieticians, nurses and nurse aides.
  • Explain how the MDS changes have the potential to effect survey outcomes.
  • List the risks associated with not operationally focusing on the MDS changes.

Faculty:

  • Annette Sanders, MSN, RN, CLNC, ICP, QCP, RAC-CT - Senior Consultant, LW Consulting
  • Kay Hashagan, PT, MBA, RAC-CT- Senior Consultant, LW Consulting
