I-PAC: Train the Trainer: Outbreak Investigation

I-PAC is excited to offer this Train-the-Trainer series to spread the impact of our infection prevention efforts. We will be offering one unique program per quarter, providing the curriculum, tools and resources related to each topic.

Objectives of the Train-the-Trainer series:

  • Train staff in long term care to serve as infection prevention leaders and trainers.
  • Peer reinforcement of critical infection prevention topics and best practices.
  • Sustainable messaging that is culturally and linguistically appropriate for each facility and their staff.

Participants are expected to have the support and commitment of their facility leadership and to develop a plan for coordinating and offering at least five training sessions for their facility/organization by April 2024 – delivery of continuing education credits will be contingent upon submission of a written Implementation Plan.

Today's I-PAC for Long-Term Care Train the Trainer program focuses on foodborne outbreak investigation and action planning.

Learner outcomes of this program include:
  • Role-play the response to a foodborne outbreak situation.
  • Summarize the steps in conducting an outbreak investigation.
  • Describe preventative measures to avert foodborne illnesses.
