Dr. Summer Hawkins continues our series with a webinar presenting her expertise on best practices addressing cannabis use during pregnancy.

These offerings are part of a series of educational opportunities for clinicians and care team leadership engaged in the priorities of the New Jersey Perinatal Quality Collaborative’s support of hospitals’ efforts to implement the AIM patient safety bundle focused on caring for pregnant and postpartum people with substance use disorder.

This important course is complimentary, thanks to funding support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through the N.J. Perinatal Quality Collaborative. It provides credits in continuing medical education, continuing nursing education and ACHE.

Learning Outcomes for this Session:
At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the current state of cannabis use and treatment during pregnancy;
  • Identify barriers reported by pregnant women with SUD that prevented them from seeking help;
  • Explain how bias effects drug screening, testing, and treatment;
  • List some practices that healthcare providers can implement to reduce stigma in treating pregnant patients with SUD; including cannabis use.
