Hospital compliance with the federal statute and CMS regulations on hospital price transparency is a key focus, particularly as CMS continues to step up its oversight and revise requirements to be more specific. These include access to and standardization of machine-readable files (MRF) and an increase in the number of data elements. CMS has also clearly stated it will require hospitals to certify the accuracy of the MRF files. The agency will also publish enforcement actions on its hospital price transparency website.

To address these changes, NJHA is hosting this members-only program with Turquoise Health, a leading national price transparency platform that independently evaluates and rates hospital compliance with CMS’ requirements. Turquoise publishes its ratings along with a detailed explanation of how each hospital’s rating was determined. Turquoise will share:

  • How the hospital ratings are developed;
  • How to take corrective action if a hospital believes its rating is incorrect;
  • Upcoming revisions to the ratings to reflect updated CMS requirements;
  • Information about additional requirements taking effect on July 1, 2024 and Jan. 1, 2025;
  • How CMS’ approach to compliance may change going forward.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how Turquoise rates hospital compliance with pricing transparency;
  • Explain the new requirements effective July 1, 2024;
  • Identify the additional data elements required in 2025;
  • Identify the ways CMS’ enforcement approach will evolve

Webinar participants can submit advance questions for the webinar’s Q&A segment to Colleen Picklo at cpicklo@njha.com.
